About
EPFL Dojo is a coding dojo initiative at EPFL where a group of programmers gather to work collaboratively on programming challenges. It is designed as a fun and engaging environment for coders to practice, learn, and improve their programming skills together through deliberate practice and shared problem-solving. The sessions encourage collaboration and skill development among participants in a friendly and supportive setting.
At EPFL, the first coding dojo took place in August 2014.
In July 2018, EPFL Dojo organized its first rallye, a scavenger-hunt-style programming competition where 5 teams of programmers competed against each other through a series of coding challenges. This event adapted the rallye format—typically involving timed stages and progression—to collaborative software development, with teams tackling problems in languages like JavaScript, Ruby or Python under time pressure (@EPFL_dojo).
Since the inaugural EPFL Dojo rally in 2018, the team has always aspired to revive a similar event—blending fun with hands-on learning of new concepts—but lack of time has prevented it from happening.
But finally in 2025, Nicolas Borboën and Ehouarn Duriaux rushed the setup of CTFd, the tool used to host this CTF (the Capture The Flag platform) and made 24 challenges avalaible.
